What are the options? A levels (Level 3): • Study four subjects in year 12, three in year 13 • Assessed mainly through exams • Usually need 5/6 GCSE grades A*-C (B needed for some subjects) Vocational full time courses (Levels 1-3): • BTECs, OCR Nationals, CACHE • Coursework or project based • Available at different levels so different entry requirements • Subjects include Business, ICT, Health & Social Care, Construction, Engineering, Child Care, Hairdressing, Plumbing, Wood trades, Beauty therapy, Catering www.ansbury.co.uk 0800 358 3888
What are the options? Apprenticeships: • Intermediate, Advanced, Higher (degree level) • Intermediate at 16 • 170 industries, 1500 job roles • Start between ages of 16 and 23 • Need good GCSE grades: A*-C (D) • Minimum pay £2.68 per hour • Traineeships: preparation for work, Maths and English, work experience • All information on www.apprenticeships.org.uk – students need to register and search for vacancies www.ansbury.co.uk 0800 358 3888
Which level? Which level course should you be applying for? • The entry requirements for each level are USUALLY: • Level 1: 2 Gs • Level 2: 3/4 Ds • Level 3: 5/6 Cs • Level 3 courses lead to HE or employment/ apprenticeship • Whatever grades students achieve, there is a starting point.
