1. Peer Editing Interview Narrative

2. Introduction • Does the introduction grab your attention? • Does it include a description of the person they have interviewed or maybe describe what they are wearing, how they look, how they carry themselves, the setting, mannerisms etc… • Rate the paper’s introduction – • 3 = Excellent Intro (don’t change a thing) • 2= Good - needs a little work but is okay • 1 = is missing an introduction or needs to be revised completely • Check for run-on sentences/fragments/punctuation/spelling errors etc.

3. Body Paragraphs • Did they describe the person’s overall experience in high school. • Did they insightfully describe at least one incident from the person’s high school experience which influenced his or her “coming of age”; is this incident easily identifiable and relevant . • Did they use vivid imagery, careful diction, and a mix of direct and indirect quotations to convey a sense of the interviewee’s voice in their narrative? • Do they have at least 3 embedded direct quotes? *Make sure they have their quotation marks

4. Body Paragraphs • Star at least two places that they could improve with more imagery, details, examples, quotes, etc. • Do they include the actual question, causing the paper to read like a question and answer session? If so, please make a note and tell them it should read like a story and not a Q & A session • Please make a note if they need more information • VOICE – rate their paper based off of their body paragraphs and their use of VOICE (is it interesting, creative, and insightful) • 3 = Excellent body paragraphs (don’t change a thing) • 2= Good - needs a little work but is okay • 1 = Needs a lot of work to make your paper stand out • Check for run-on sentences/fragments/punctuation/spelling errors etc.

5. Conclusion • The conclusion captures what they learned from the interview and how they can apply what was learned as they experience high school • It ends in an insightful and creative way • 3 = Excellent Conclusion (don’t change a thing) • 2= Good - needs a little work but is okay • 1 = Missing the conclusion or needs to be revised completely • Check for run-on sentences/fragments/punctuation/spelling errors etc.

6. Formatting Checklist • ___Title – narrative contains a creative title (not just their name) • ____MLA Citation – student cites their interview correctly according to MLA format at the bottom of their narrative • EXAMPLE: Purdue, Pete. Personal interview. 1 Dec. 2000. • ___Final draft is typed • ___ 12 point font • ___ times new roman • ___ double spaced • ___ 1 inch margins • ___ appropriate MLA heading • ____ title centered • ____indented paragraphs • ____at least one page in length • ____ They will tonight submit to turnitin.com • * your essay will not be graded until it is submitted to turnitin.com and remain a zero in the gradebook

7. Independent Revision • Please check your paper for spelling errors • Find two places that you could combine two sentences using a semi colon • Find two places that you could start with an “ing” verb Example: Sprinting home; Listening patiently… • Find one place that you could start with an adverb Example: Quietly waiting; Sadly sobbing… • Check for run-on sentences/fragments/punctuation/spelling errors etc.

8. Due Tomorrow: Final Draft Submit to turnitin.com & bring a printed copy to class for a major grade Do not worry about formatting in turnitin.com Library opens at 7:30 a.m. and is open during lunches and after school
