What is Club Maith? • It’s an accreditation process which assesses how well (bronze, silver, gold or platinum awards) your club is being run in accordance with best practice under a number of headings • Governance • Health & Protection • Community Enhancement • Culture • Coaching & Games
What do I do? Go to Club Maith web-site on www.ulstergaa.ie under the Club and Community tab Register your club with a username and password Gives club constant access to information Download application form, complete and submit Club Maith pack sent out to club or print off the Club Maith portfolio from the Club Maith home page Split the portfolio into the headings in the previous slide and delegate the sections out to different officers Huge amount of material on the website to assist the club with its application
How much detail? • There are about 100 criteria on which clubs are assessed • 49+ = bronze • 67+ = silver • 87+ = gold • All 100 = platinum • Most clubs will find that they already have most of the requirements • Templates of forms, policies, duties, etc. on website
Governance Club constitution Meetings and club officers Sub-committees (Child Protection, Coaching & Games, etc. Communication (web, newsletters) Policy documents (Health & Safety, etc.) Financial procedures Development Plan
Health and Protection Community Enhancement • Schools/club links • Involvement with other community groups Child Protection (courses, vetting) Communication with juveniles Medical conditions (membership forms) Insurance First Aid ASAP
Culture and Heritage Coaching and Games • Coaching plan • First touch, etc. • Ulster and county coaching workshops • Active involvement with County Board and Ulster Council activities Scór, Gaeilge, signage
Experiences/Suggestions Ring binder with file dividers for each criteria Attend your county Club Maith training workshops Spread the workload! Irish News Club of the Year annual award Plenty of help from Maura Kelly & Co. In Ulster Council Facilitators wont try to trip you up – will make suggestions before final assessment
