  2. In the current pandemic, online learning is the new norm for education, which is a change for most students and their teachers. Since this change was inevitable, all we can do as parents is to make sure our kids adapt as much as possible to these virtual classrooms. Let us look at the possible ways to make this transition as smooth as we can.

  3. Tips to prepare your child for online learning at home 1) Proper Study Environment Just like the adults have their home office, children should have a designated space they could use to attend their classes. Ideally, it should be peaceful with minimum distraction. Use the appropriate table and chair matching the height of your child and ensure proper sitting posture. Since kids are easily distracted, make sure to remove all distracting elements from the table, only keep what is required.

  4. Cover all the school books, granted online experience is different from classroom sessions, but take it in all the seriousness as you would attend in person Parents should project a positive vibe towards these virtual sessions because your kids are going to mirror what you do Clean the room and arrange the seat so that their back faces the wall, that way the webcam will not capture anything that could distract the class Finally, as parents, we should avoid entering the designated room as much as possible.

  5. 2) Gadgets and Applications For attending these sessions, it is better to use desktops or laptops rather than mobiles or tablets as the screen dimensions play an essential role in the overall experience. Having a larger screen also makes it easier to look at the presented slides, adding less strain to your eyes. Even though the majority of kids are familiar with gadgets, make sure they get accustomed to the applications used by the school authorities. If needed, restrict access to the applications in your computer that could distract your kids. Here is an easy guide on how you can do it on Windows 10

  6. 5) Saving is entertaining When I was a kid, I used to enjoy playing PC games, but once I started earning, I couldn’t enjoy them any longer. No matter what I did, gaming made me feel empty inside. Now I have invested in gold, stock market, mutual funds, bank deposits, digital currency, and much more. It excites me to see a small amount of money coming from all these sources, and now I am getting the same kind of kick from managing these resources as I used to get while playing games. 3) Lighting Dos There should be sufficient light in the room, not too bright or not too dark. The ambient light of the room should match the brightness of your screen Position the source of light in a way that will minimize glare or hot spots on the monitor Don’ts The webcam should not directly face any light source Do not position the seat in a way that makes your kids look directly into any source of light.

  7. 6) Save up an emergency fund When I crisis, If you don’t have an emergency fund, you might have to take up unfavorable deals like High-interest loan Take out your investment when in loss Asking your friends Ideally, you need to have a minimum of 3 to 6 months of your living expenses in a savings account. 4) Internet Most of the applications use large volumes of data, so use internet connections that have sufficient speed and data limits 5) Habituate the new routine Just because your kids are at home, don’t let them cut corners. Wake up early, have breakfast before classes, dress up nearly, grind these habits into their new routine. Avoid snacking, as you wouldn’t want a new unwanted habit

The last thing they want is a parent dropping in from time to time to give suggestions. Understand the fact that they are not professional video editors or tech-savvy. It may take some time to get accustomed to the new system. Leave the teachers and students alone as you would when they are in schools, accompanying them during these sessions will distract both the teacher and your kid, impacting the effectiveness of the whole class. Don’t ever criticize the quality of teachers in front of your kids as they may lose respect for their teachers, which in turn impacts their learning experience. If you have any concerns about the quality of teachers, you should directly connect with school authorities.

It will help to make life easy for both the teachers and you as a parent. Communicate with teachers, try to understand if there is any gap, and also inform them if your kid is facing any issues. 8) Physical Activity Online training doesn’t promote physical activities as much as they do when in school.
