  3. What are the Asian Silver Carps?Where’d They Come From? *The Asian Silver Carps is from Midwest Asia cultivated in China and is a invasive species and is coming/invading the Mississippi River *They are about 8o to 100 pounds

  4. What are they doing about it? *An electric barrier has been put up to stop the invasive species Asian Bighead and Silver Carp out, which are the most aggressive two fish.

How Did They Get Here? *The Asian Silver Carp was introduced into Illinois in the early 70’s in the South farms and been going up river since then *During the flood’s the farm where fish's were at called catfish farms pond overflowed the bank, and got released into the local waterways in the Mississippi River basin

  6. What’s There Diet? *The diet of an Asian Silver Carp is phytoplankton and also consume zooplankton and detritus Species/Relatives of the carps *Bighead carp *Black carp *Grass carp *Silver carp

What Effects Could It Have On The Great Lakes? *There are significant threats to the Great Lake since the Asian Silver Carp is large, extremely prolific, and consume a vast amount of food. *The Asian Silver Carp could be and would disrupt and ruin the food chain *Since the have a rapid rate of reproduction, these fish could pose a significant risk to the Great Lakes Ecosystem
