  4. Device convergence • Support for several access types. • More features in one terminal • Phone, fax, mail, music, video, portable memory, camera, GPS, TV, payment. • Identification and security mechanisms are common. • Common interfaces for accessing services. University of Jyväskylä

Network convergence • Networks with layered architecture. • Service, control, transport, access. • Increased efficiency: • optimized transport and coding solutions • no need for over-capacity • Common resources regardless of the access: • Charging, presence, management, directories, session control..
