My sildes layout Idea: we have a motor and we have its application, we are going to get it realy cold, we are going to design it to work as well as it possably can. 1. brief recap 2. motor design is consideration of properties of materials and geometry. 3. Factors affecting a good design
Brief recap: We have seen: Clement Chris Dave Ben Mungo Very low temperatures are basically only found in space or, for the lowest of temperatures, in the lab. Motion is created in the motor by material which we can make expand and contract, unfortunatly almost all materials expand and contract less well at low temperature. Taking the motor to low temperature could affect other negative ways.
Negative effects of low temperature on a pizioelectric motor Asside from just breaking, either because liquid freezes and jams it, or because materials contracting at different rates deform the motor. Usability (does it jam? Freezing of liquid, deformation from uneven contraction upon cooling ) Performance criterea(for scientific use in cryostat... (only guys that use it) how acurate is it? How fast is it? How efficient is it? ) Efficiency – importance of and (its going to produce heat, but its supposed to be a low temperature motor!) Say that in our project we recomend design faeatures. Go through each motor design type Conclude: How we desire the motor to behave is governed by application, how we implement this is our design. Materials low temperature properties . Have left out: Heat dissipation...
The low temperature motor • Recap • The lowest temperatures are found in space and in man made environments such as within a cryostat
