Taiga or Boreal Forest • Worlds largest biome • Located in North America, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia and Northern Japan • bear, bald eagle, wolf, fox, rabbit • Christmas like looking trees (White Spruce, Balsam Fir)
Tundra • 2 kinds of Tundra- • Arctic and Alpine Arctic Tundra is located above the Taiga Alpine Tundra is at high levels such as mountain ranges Arctic animals- Caribou (Moose like), Grizzly Bears, Polar Bear, Snowy Owl Alpine Tundra
Desert • 2 kinds of Deserts- • Hot – Near the Tropic of Capricorn or Tropic of Cancer • 3 in North America (Mojave, Sonoran, Chihuahuan) • Cold- Near the Arctic and the Great Basin Desert (High in Arizona and Colorado) Hot desert animals have to be able to burrow under the sand. Cold Desert get lots of snow
Tropical Rainforest • 3 different kinds of rainforest- American, Asian and African • A forest of tall trees where it is warm all year • Between 50 to 260 inches of rain • 70% of plants in a rainforest are trees • Every rainforest has monkeys and insects. The biggest populations
Grasslands or Prairies • Everywhere except Antarctica • 2 kinds of Grasslands • Tall grasses are humid and wet • Short grasses are dry with hot summers and cold winters
Temperate Deciduous Forest • Found in North America, Russia, Japan, Eatern China, Chile, New Zealand and Australia
