Your task… • You are to create a fact-sheet about a particular invertebrate animal phylum. • Fact Sheet: Short, concise document that tells the reader as much as possible about a subject in a small space. • Instead of writing a five page paper, you will put the information onto a double-sided sheet of paper. • Fact sheet will be colorful, fact-filled, computer generated document that other classes can use as a refrence!

  3. The points… • The following checkpoints are worth 1 or 2 points each for a maximum total of 50 points. The points are then doubled for a project grade of 100 points! • You are expected to create a bibliography as well. • Needs to be two pages (one page back to back) • You can use any computer program you wish: word, publisher, print shop, etc.

  4. The components of the fact sheet… • Factual information • Distinguishing features correctly labeled. • General habitat indicated • Level of organization shown • Symmetry illustrated • Segmentation noted • Digestive tract noted • Respiratory exchange illustrated • Circulatory system indicated

  5. Components cont… • Layout • Only TWO pages • More than 75% computer generated • Overall layout is clearly well planned • Spacing appealing and easy to read

  6. Components cont… • Titles • Each section has a title • Size decreases with diminishing importance

  7. Components cont… • Examples/Graphics • Three images, pictures, graphics depicting examples of marine animals of this phylum • Each is labeled with common name and scientific name

  8. Components cont… • Essential question: What are the challenges of life for this marine animal? • Answered the essential question in at least a paragraph. • No spelling or grammar errors.

  9. Components cont… • Bibliography • Sited three sources each written in the proper format and included in the fact sheet.
