  2. Learning Outcomes • Students will learn to communicate in Spanish through listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and learning about the Hispanic culture. • The Student communicates in a second language. • The Student makes connections in the school and community.

  3. Textbook Exprésate • How to access the on-line book http://my.hrw.com/ • Each chapter tells the students what concepts will be covered. • We will cover at least 7 chapters this year. • Chapter One – Alphabet, Time, phone numbers, email address, verb Ser. • Chapter Two – ser (verb to be)with adjectives, gender and adjective agreement.

  4. Chapter Three – gustar (verb to like) with infinitives and regular -arverbs. • Chapter Four - regular and irregular -er and -irverbs. • Chapter Five - possessive adjectives, negationwithnunca, tampoco, nada, and nadie. • Chapter Six - direct objects and direct objectpronouns. • Chapter Seven - object and reflexive pronouns with commands.

Weekly Structure • EjerciciosEscritos (bell work) - every day • Escritura (note taking) - every day • Videos/musica (videos/songs) – every day • Tarea (homework) - every day • Prueba (quizz) - every Tuesday • Lectura (reading)– every Wednesday • Conversación (conversational day)–every Thursday • Proyectos (projects) - once a month • Examen (Chapter Test) – once a month

  7. Homework = Tarea • Usually 10-15 minutes. • Study the Exprésates for the tests, vocabulary, verb conjugation, and pages at the end of chapters help. • Homework – 5% of the grade • You may ask your student: “What did you learn in Spanish today?” (Queaprendiste hoy en la clase de Español?)

Grading Categories • Class Participation: 20% • Homework: 5% • Warm-ups 5% • Quizzes 10% (Culture Quiz   5%) (Speaking Quiz 5%) • Tests, Final, Projects : 60% (Chapter Test 15%) (Projects     15%) (Final 10%) (Listening Test  5%) (Writing Test 5%) (Spelling Test  5%) (Reading Test) 5%) _______________ Total 100%
