Agenda • Using chips to model integers – integer bingo • Adding/Subtracting Integers using chips and a number line • Ratios – using currency • Using technology in the classroom • Math games – jeopardy, coordinate grid battleship, edible math
Adding Integers Using Chips • -3 + -4 = • 2 + -2 = • -5 + 6 = • 4 + -7 = • -1 + 8 =
Rules for Adding/Subtracting Integers using a number line • Start at zero and face in the positive direction • A positive number means take steps forward, a negative number means take steps back • Addition means your body stays in the same direction • Subtraction means your body flips direction
Adding & Subtracting Integers Using a Number Line • -3 + -4 = • 2 – ( -2) = • -5 + 6 = • 4 + -7 = • -1 – 8 = • -8 – (-4)
Ratios • Using foreign Currency to show ratios • Use Visuals to demonstrate property • Pick touristic places and describe some of the things to do there. • Pick items to purchase • Create ratios. • Using geogebra to show foreign currency ratios
