WHITE SPACE is not ‘wasteful.’
WHITE SPACE allows design to breathe.
Part of the reason is psychological. Part of the reason is physical.
When text crowds all the way to the edge, it makes us feel cramped and crowded and pinched. And long passages of text, written edge-to-edge tire the eyes. NOT TO MENTION EXTRANEOUS WORDS that I used just because I’m in love with my own words instead of being in love with pleasing my audience. kkk
But they’ll see my genius and read the words anyway, even if the copy is too wordy or has reversed-out text on a dark background, right?
And guess what, white space doesn’t have to be white.
White space can be any empty area, Any area without text is ‘white space’ any area devoid of text,
opaque or colorful, white or even gently textured. White Space is also called Negative Space.
Surrounding a block of text with lots of white space white space delivers contrast. can draw the reader’s eye in. “We sell happiness.” Even in a crowded space, as in a magazine or newspaper,
