Developing a Vision Guiding Principles: • To provide a learning environment of equity, opportunity, and global awareness • To promote the academic, physical, social, and emotional growth of each child • To prepare our children for success in their life experiences beyond high school
Part 2 Gathering Input
Tasks: • Community input meetings are scheduled with key stakeholders across the district • Upon conclusion of these meetings: • 14 various groups are represented • Seven (7) pages of input is documented and categorized • Next steps in the planning process take shape

Part 3 Leadership Councils
Five Leadership Councils: • Teaching and Learning (Anderson/Oliphant) • Unique Learners (DeVaan/Polys) • Expanded Programs (Fredericksen/Kuehn/Nelson) • Student Support (Eischens/Jeska/Schank) • Facilities, Transportation, and Technologies (Grandy, Gustafson, Lobitz)
Leadership Council Tasks: • Identify common themes within assigned categories • Prioritize feedback based upon Guiding Principles, the group’s vision for the future, and viability from a systems perspective • Based upon feedback, each council will bring forward 1-3 program recommendations

Part 4 Leadership Retreat
Retreat Goals: • Review 10 planning maps and identify common themes • Prioritize goals based upon • Guiding Principals • Group’s vision for future programming • Generate a “charge statement” for each identified program goal

#1 – Intercultural Experiences Action Statement: Develop and enhance K-12 options ranging from basic minimum standards to a bilingual skill level. Create a menu of choices. Administrative Leads: • Anderson • DeVaan • Fredericksen
#2 – Expanded Educational Opportunities Action Statement: Expand program choices to include extended day and/or zero hour opportunities to enhance student learning, build life-long skills, and expand community partnerships. Administrative Lead: • Fredericksen
#3 – Pathways of Study Action Statement: Increase guidance and support for students through their high school years, and in their transition to postsecondary experiences. Administrative Lead: • Fredericksen
#4 – Community Service Action Statement: The school district will define the required service learning elements for all grade levels. Administrative Lead: • Gustafson
#5 – S.T.E.M. Initiatives Action Statement: The school district will increase opportunities for students to take part in S.T.E.M. initiatives (Science, Tech, Engineering, and Math). Specifically – Project Lead the Way Administrative Lead: • Oliphant

Tasks: • Review and refine charge statements as an administrative team • Coordinate and organize task force teams for each program goal • Create Action Plans including: • Specific tasks and strategies • Timeline • Budget implications
