  1. Instruction, Communication, and Explanation.

  2. Best pedagogical techniques for teaching science……… Leading by example… If you work hard your students will hopefully follow. Visually appealing…. Lot of colors and beauty. Experimentation….. It’s what Science is all about. Instruction….. How can anyone know what is expected with out guide lines. Assessments are made….. Verbally, visually, and through tests consisting of multiple choice questions, short answers , and fill in the blank.

  3. Why is teaching Different? • Teaching is different than most other subject areas because there is no one clear cut absolute solution. Even if someone were to claim that they had the most effective method of teaching you can always improve upon it. • Teaching is also different in the way that things are always changing. Who we teach and what we teach may need us as educator to adapt to help our students success.

  4. What teachers do to help their students master the content area. • They’re at school to answer questions before and after school. • There open to discussing how the students learn best with their students. • They give regular assessments. • There willing to do what ever it take to improve their students confidence in that subject area.

  5. How do I learn? • I learn best through teachers who have an open mind, who don’t judge, and who are more of a peer than an authoritative figure. • I’m verbal, visual, and at times auditory in how I learn. So a teacher who can incorporate all three of these learning techniques the better off I’ll be in the long run.

  6. What counts as knowledge in Science? • Experience, and intellect in the field. • The ability to adapt and teach as new information is presented in the subject area.

  7. Techniques • Classroom inquiry rather than being told what to memorize. Being able to discover how the world works.* • Hidden Curriculum- teaching critical thinking.* • Teacher is guiding rather than being told.*

  8. Techniques from the lesson plan • Experimenting- and allowing the students to come up with their own conclusions. • The Lesson plan is organized and laid out in a methodical way so that everyone can understand what's going on. (Organization) • The lesson plan has all elements of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning.( teacher is well aware of the different needs of students.)

  9. Videos and Lesson plans • I feel as though the lesson plans I looked at and the videos are very similar in what they want students to learn, and how they want students to learn. I do think that teaching is changing from the traditional, “I say this and this is how it is.” to learning through exploration and self discovery (critical thinking about the world around). I think that this is more positive than negative. Teaching students how to think for themselves is important. I also think that when we emerge on a new path of learning the consequences are that the positives of the old way of teaching/learning are lost.
