Use the hook! Introduce yourself (AFTER the hook) Prepare emotionally Avoid a “cold start” Opening a Presentation
Don’t talk into your notes Divide the room Use movement to hold the audience’s attention Relax when you make a mistake Keep track of time Vary the pace at which you speak Voice Pause Breathe Minimize nervousness Establish rapport with your audience Watch your audience Vary your delivery Make the organization of your presentation very clear Be excited about your material! Be conversational Use simple, colorful language Learn how not to read your presentation Use anecdotes and stories in your presentation Delivering a Presentation
Minimize nervousness • Take a few deep breaths • Tighten your muscles from toes to jaws • Then smile
Vary your delivery • Ask questions at strategic points • Ask for comments • Ask for opinions about the subject • Introduce different media – charts, graphs, films, audio clips
