Important Definitions • Fascism • a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism. • Anarchy • A state of society without government or law. • Political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control.

Important Definitions • Dystopian Literature • Literary works that focus on dystopian societies, which are characterized by human misery, as squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding. • Vendetta • A private feud in which the members of the family of a murdered person seek to avenge the murder by killing the slayer or one of the slayer’s relatives • Any prolonged and bitter feud, rivalry, contention, or the like: a political vendetta
