The main setting of the opening title sequence is a deserted alley way at night where Evey is attacked. Thrillers tend to be set in ordinary places so the audience can relate to it and feel anxious because of this. V puts his mask on which tells us he wants to get rid of his identity and shows how easily he can hide his identity by just putting on a mask. V walks with his head held high and very smoothly this shows that he has a lot of confidence and has an aura around him that he is a smart person and knows what he wants. V for Vendettamise-en-scene The guy forks mask hides V’s identity also the guy forks mask could foreshadow to the audience a bit about what might happen in the film. The dark background tells us it’s night time which adds to the idea that V is an antagonist because monsters come out at night. the knife shows he is breaking the law also dangerous. The knife belt connotes that V is doing something illegal and dangerous which requires weapons to accomplish The hat shows he is trying very hard to hide his identity makes the audience curious and want to know more about him The black clothes and leather have a negative effect highlighting his antagonistic qualities.
Cinematography The POV of V putting on his mask tells us that the mask has a lot of significant and make the audience very curious and suspicious and want to know why he is wearing it. • These are the shots I find significant to the opening title sequence This close up shot of both V and Evey getting ready and both looking into a mirror give you a sense they a both getting ready at the same time. Parallel editing gives the audience a sense that the shots are happening at the same time because they both doing the same actions in the scene. This close up of them walking makes you think they are walking towards each other to meet. It build tension and builds to a dramatic climax. In this high angle mid-shot Evey looks like a damsel in distress and exaggerates V’s power and dominance. This AVOP shows that V is standing above suggests his dominance and power but is bowing to her and offering his which suggests that V will help her become stronger
