Vision Statement To establish the first West Coast franchise of For Paws Spa, a premier provider of high quality dog care and grooming services. Our goal is to make dogs’ tails wag. As part of our mission to improve the lives of animals, For Paws will donate 10% of all profits to animal welfare charities, including the SPCA and Humane Society.
Business Need Our aim is to successfully launch the first West Coast location of high-end dog spas. Our dog-focused spa will fill a niche in the community for high-end dog wellness, rest and relaxation services. If everything proceeds as planned, For Paws Spa will further expand throughout the West Coast and California, increasing company revenue, building brand awareness, and improving the lives of dogs and dog owners across the country.
Project Description • For Paws Spa will provide a wellness and grooming service for dogs. In addition, For Paws will offer a range of boutique items for sale, including clothes, jewelry and food. • The project aims to ensure the on time and within budget setup of the spa location. Upon completion of the project, the sponsor will have a fully outfitted franchise store location that meets corporate franchise standards and design criteria. • Staff will be recruited and trained according to corporate standards thereby ensuring that this franchise location provides the same service levels consistent with the culture and standards of the organization.
Project Lifecycle Approach • Linear Project Lifecycle best suits this well defined, low risk, relatively straightforward project. • The planning, development and launch of For Paws is modeled closely on franchise openings on the East Coast. The project benefits from a well-defined process and franchise plan. The project is well understood, low-risk, and relatively simple therefore the Linear project lifecycle was chosen.
Assumptions • Budget provided by local sponsor • Corporate headquarters will market the franchise in the region • Corporate headquarters will provide interior and exterior design specifications for the store • Insurance and legal support to be provided by the Corporation • Building permits have already been obtained • Location has been secured • Franchise agreement is in place between the sponsor and the parent company • The contractor has experience outfitting ‘For paws Spas’ in the US • Corporate franchise will provide staff trainers and training material • Corporate headquarters will provide a list of preferred vendors and material suppliers • Corporate headquarters will select, interview and conduct background checks of potential employees • Corporate headquarters will train and certify employees • Franchise approves list of potential charitable donation groups
