What exactly is an Elevator Pitch? • An Elevator Pitch is a brief, but concise overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. This idea should be projected in a time span of 30 seconds to 2 minute.
What is Accomplished in a Pitch? • Qualification on who exactly you are • Clarity of what you are doing • Verdict on if people want to or not want to invest in your idea • Grabs attention • Calls action for the target to spend time listening to you
Basics of an Elevator Pitch • Introduce yourself (name, title, company) • Description of your product and the investment opportunity/problem you are solving • Include strengths of your investment opportunity • Summary of what you are looking for and/or are your next steps
How to get started • Generate an idea (is it compelling and purposeful?) • Describe the problem you solving • Quantify the problem • Describe the product/technology • What are the benefits? • What are you looking for?
Sample Format • Introduce the target customer • Introduce problem with current solution/product • Introduce your company name and the key benefits and solution it provides for the problem • Mention authority over competitive alternatives, and why you are better • Sell your idea by mentioning partnerships, revenue generated, etc • End with a strong closing statement that includes how much your projected to raise • Mention what you are now looking for
Is your Pitch good enough? • Is your pitch short, clear, and concise?Is it easy enough that anybody could easily understand it? • Does it leave the target audience wanting to know more or get involved? • Does it generate any follow up questions? (be prepared to answer these!)
Body Language • Remember to smile • Be calm • Talk at moderate pace (not too fast or too slow) • Make eye contact • Be enthusiastic and passionate • Know your pitch inside and out!
