  1. Fractured Fairy Tales

  2. Name some popular fairy tales from your childhood.

  3. What are some characteristics of fairy tales?

  4. What is a fractured fairy tale? • A fairy tale designed to be humorous by changing the story in an unexpected way. • Read Wolf ‘n’ the Hood • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6rV219Yhvg

  5. Read at least 5 original fairy tales: You can choose from the fairy tales on these websites: • Grimm's Fairy Tales • A Book of Fairy Tales • Grimm Stories • Classic Fairy Tales

  6. Choose one that you will "fracture" When you choose the fairy tale, plan the plot of the story and ask yourself the following: • What is the setting of the traditional story? What will be the setting of my fractured tale? • Am I going to change the point of view of the original story? • How will Ichange the characters in my fractured fairy tale? • What is the problem in my story? What is the solution? • How will Imake the story funny?

  7. Some ideas to consider: • Change the main character • Change the setting (time or place) • Tell the story from a different character's point of view • Make the problem of the story different • Change an important item in the story (for example, the glass slipper in Cinderella) • Change the ending of the story (maybe they don't live "happily ever after" after all!)

  8. Your fractured fairy tale must change from the original version, but the overall story must be similar. It must be obvious to the reader which fairy tale was fractured. • Fractured Fairy Tales
