  6. Exposition Example • Once upon a time in New Orleans, a waitress named Tiana dreamed of someday owning her own restaurant and being wealthy enough to take care of her aging mother.

  9. Rising Action • Unfortunately, the frog prince was cursed by an evil voodoo doctor, and Tiana was also turned into a frog. • They had to go through a lot of trouble to find a way to turn themselves back into humans before the voodoo doctor, Dr. Facilier, could get his way.

  11. Falling Action • Dr. Facilier tries to attack her, but is destroyed when she breaks his magic talisman. • Tiana and Naveen return to the bayou as frogs and get married. • When Naveen kisses her, the spell is broken and they both become humans again.

  12. Resolution • With the help of her new friends and husband, Tiana is able to open her restaurant. • Tiana and Naveen have learned that love and family are more important than money.

  13. Did you catch the twist ending? • The movie makes you think that Tiana and Naveen are stuck as frogs, but right at the end they accidentally find a loophole in the curse that allows them to become human again. • A twist ending is a surprise. It can be good or bad, but the reader can’t see it coming until it happens.
