Initially it manufactured pyrometric tools and instruments. In September 1959 the plant started producing communication equipment and was named Kalugapribor. In 1999 the plant got a status of a federal state unitary enterprise (FGUP) – Kalugapribor FGUP. In December 2011 Kalugapribor FGUP was reorganized to become Kalugapribor Open Joint-Stock Company (OAO) pursuant to the Russian Government Instruction No. 513-R of March 24, 2011. The company became a member of Kontsern Avtomatika OAO concern.
