FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is the largest city in French Flanders. It is the principal city of the Lille Métropole, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in France after those of Paris, Lyon and Marseille.
FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is located in Northern France on the Deûle river, near the France-Belgium border. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region.
FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is known for having mussels and chips, or “moules-frites”, as their traditional staple food. A while ago, a restaurant in Lille started throwing the mussel shells out into a pile. Funnily enough, this has started a tradition where the restaurants compete against each other to get the largest pile!
