Becoming a PACE Partner • What is PACE? Pace is Partners Advancing Character Education(PACE) is a grassroots initiative originating in the Spokane valley that promotes the importance of good character. Each month they provide a specific character trait. • January Character trait is Fairness
Computer Science Admissions • Prospective Computer Science Majors • The department is now signing major declarations for all interested students and no longer intends to limit declarations to CS majors next year • We will continue to have an advancement process centering on the Advancement Programming Exam
Advancement Programming Exam • Attention Computer Science Students • Beginning Fall 2013, the University Policy with regard to retaking courses is being applied to the department's Advancement Programming Exam. • Henceforth you will be allowed 3 attempts at passing the exam. • Students needing a 4th attempt under the old rules, and those who have previously been approved for a 5th or higher attempt, WILL be allowed to take the exam one more time, but it will be your last attempt.
Spring Game Programming Course • CSCD 474, Game Development will be offered this Spring • It will be offered in face-to-face format on the Cheney campus, meeting twice per week at 6:30 PM • We are also working on an online offering • This will be a crash course in rapid game development. You'll learn how to bring your own game ideas from concept to reality using Adobe Flash / AIR. Multiple games will be created and you'll have an excellent portfolio for potential employers. Topics may include animation, game input, performance, AI, mobile development, monetization, and other tools. • About the Instructor: Nate Chatellier has 15 years of professional experience and is currently a Senior Developer at Seven2 Interactive. He has worked on and/or overseen successful projects for Disney, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., AT&T, MTV, and others.
