  5. Overall Tips • Get yourself organized – create personal advising kit • Keep your contact information current • Meet with your advisor regularly

What to expect • We will meet each semester in your freshman year; • anytime you fall below a 2.0 grade point average; • anytime you have a question or anything regarding your academic life; • You will get periodic emails from me; I do not send emails for fun so be careful what you delete; • I will ask you to sign a parental disclosure form if your parents request it; • I will copy parents on general information emails if requested – send request to weaver3@clemson.edu • Get to know the Announcements (Catalogue) and the School Web Site, especially advising pages; Facebook • Be responsible for yourself – grownup 101 starts today

  10. Choosing Courses • In general – • Stay flexible • Go for the course, not the section • Have information handy • Use on-line resources • For specific courses…

  11. Core Courses • CPSC: keyed to CMPT/AP score • MTHSC: CMPT/AP score governs • If you get moved, let us know • ENGL – required for fall (unless AP) • Natural Science

  13. Creative Inquiry • Through special topics and creative inquiry courses students can participate in leading edge research and software development projects. Usually 3-4 semesters. • Recent topics: • Android Software Development • iPhone Software Development • Second Life Application Development • Security Projects • iTiger (Networks and Network Applications) • Physically Based Animations • Designing Hi-Tech Teaching Station

  14. Co-Op & Internships • Not required as part of the curriculum • Growing interest by employers • May or may not be right for you • You must register for the programs with the Cooperative Education Office or Michelin Career Center • Come talk to us next fall
