The Growth of The Believer Goal – To live by faith in every area of our life – A risky, daring, adventuresome faith that can meet life’s tough challenges – Heb. 11 • Life really begins with a total commitment to Jesus Christ – This decision is the missing dynamic in most Christians today – AND THAT DECISION MUST BE RENEWED EVERY DAY! • Decision: Today I will turn over the control of my life to the Lord. I will trust His control over what I was never meant to control. With His guidance I will take responsibility for what He has given me to do for His glory & by His power. Maturing Believer Capacity for life – Prov. 8:32-35 • Give Christ a “blank check” for your life – the living sacrifice of Rom. 12:2 • A real desire to be in constant fellowship with the Lord & to serve Him – Matt. 11:29; I Jn. 1:6, 7 Decision Decision • Begins putting on spiritual armor – Eph. 6:10-18 Discipleship • Follow-up (Milk of The Word – I Cor. 3:2; Heb. 5:11-14) Evangelism – Jn. 3:1-21; Acts 16:31 • Worldliness – Ps. 1:1; I Cor. 3:3, 4; Heb. 6:6; Rom. 8:6 • Reversionistic Believer – • Emotional Revolt of The Soul • No capacity for life (separation of fellowship from God → Death) • Frantic search for happiness – Eph. 4:19 • Bitterness – Heb. 12:15 • Guaranteed misery – Rev. 3:17 • Sin leading to death – I Jn. 5:16 To be a disciple, in the true sense of the word, means to place your trust in Christ, depending on Him for all of the decisions & goals & priorities & attitudes & values of your life; to depend upon Him entirely; to give yourself wholly to Him; to become like Him; to live like Him; to model your life after His; to obey His commands & instructions…
