Knowledge Management… The current focus and study of knowledge management is not for the sake of academics only, but a realization that knowing about knowledge is critical to business growth and business survival. Knowledge, if properly utilized and leveraged, can drive organizations to become more competitive, innovative and sustainable.

  3. Knowledge Management Applications With the realization of the importance of KM in organization, KMC and FCM, MMU proposed these tools which could be used in any organization including SME. • KM SME Toolkit • Presentation Library • Knowledge Bank • Technical Journal

  4. What is KM SME Toolkit • Starter kit on how to setup business • Guidelines for SMEs to embark Knowledge Management applicationsin their businesses • The toolkit is useful for potential entrepreneursto start new businesses • Answers the where, when and how to start SME businesses

  5. KM SME Toolkit • KM SME Toolkit was produced base on research related to SMEs under IRPA grant • Presented to Bank Negara, SMIDEC and SMEs • Feedbacks gained: • Beneficial for SMEs • The content produced is suitable for SMEs owners • To include an additional content on how to setup a business

  6. KM SME Toolkit: Features • Financial guidelines – How to start and contact person • How to set up website • Allow customization • Database system: A ‘store’ where information and knowledge related to the business can be kept and used when needed • Upload and share material • Search engine

  14. Knowledge Bank • Currently used by MMU staff • Contribution to this portal is part of staff yearly evaluation • The system have been operated for 3 years • 3000 files have been shared among staff since 2006 • Tailored for academic and non academic staff
