  3. Students are hungry for more! • Appetizer- Gets you excited for the meal. • Entrée- The Meat & Potatoes. • Dessert- The finale.

  4. Every dish on the menu needs a recipe: • Preparation = Planning • Instructions = Demo • Ingredients = Activities • Finished dish = Understanding *Stay flexible- Substitutions may be necessary!

  5. Things to think about… • What do you want them to know or do, and what do they already know? • How do you make the topic or task memorable? • How much time do you have? • How can you incorporate a variety of tasks? • What materials are available? • How do you meet the needs of all students?

  6. Variety is the spice of life! **You can address so many needs with more variety: • Learning Styles • Ability Levels • Connecting Subjects • Pacing / Limited Attention Spans • Flexibility • More Comprehensive Understanding • Gives Students Options • Assessing Differently

  10. On-Task Tricks • Teach with enthusiasm! • Set goals for learning or behaving prior to activity • Set timers or count down • Give students roles • Organize of materials • Token Economy • Group Goals • Take breaks to either reward on-task behavior, or refocus • Student Recognition
