PCMS Athletics 2014-2015 • Jr. Piedmont District: Patrick County, Laurel Park, Fieldale-Collinsville, Martinsville, GW Danville-Westwood/Bonner, Ben Franklin, Halifax County • 2014 with incorporating 7th graders in the county: • Fall: Football (7-8 games), Volleyball (12-14 matches, 2 tournaments) • Winter: Girls Basketball (15 games), Boys Basketball (15 games), Wrestling(5-matches) • Spring: Baseball (10-15 games), Softball (10-15 games), Boys Soccer (6-8 matches), Girls Soccer (6-8 matches) • Future/Present?: JV Golf, Cross Country, Track
PCMS Athletics 2014-2015 • Must have a VHSL physical on file-provided on May 21 3:45-6:00 (Complete Part 1, Part 2, and Part 4 before the day of the physical) • Students making PCMS teams will • Undergo Concussion Baseline Testing • Sign Concussion Information sheet, Insurance Release, Team Rules, Handbook • Meet Academic Eligibility Standards-8th graders pass 3 out of 4 classes, 7th grade pass 3 out of 4 (Science, Social Studies, Math, English) • Transportation-Activity bus will run each day to high school for practice/workouts, student-athletes may be picked up at high school or ride activity bus home at 6:30 • Tryouts and cuts maybe held for Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer-Depends on number of student-athletes trying out • Recreation Program-altered for football, but will stay intact for all other sports for 7th graders that do not make teams that require cuts, student-athletes will either play for PCMS or local recreation program • Communication through Elementary Schools, School Messenger, and Rschool

Summer Dates for 7th/8th Graders • Fall Sports (General Parents/Student-Athletes Meeting August 4, Summer Dead Period June 29-July 5) • Football: Summer Weightlifting/Practice Monday-Thursday 8:00-11:00 AM beginning June 9, Official Practice July 31 • Volleyball: Volleyball Camp July 21-24, Tryouts August 4th 3:00-6:30 PM • Golf: Official Start August 4, Time TBA • Cross Country: Summer Running Tuesday/Thursday 6:45 at Dehart Park in Stuart, Saturdays at locations to be announced, Official start August 4 • Winter Sports • Girls Basketball: Camp June 9, 10, 11 2:00-5:00 at Stuart Elementary School, Tryouts in November • Boys Basketball: Camp TBA, Tryouts in November • Wrestling: Tryouts in November, Workouts this Fall • Spring Sports • Baseball: Fall Workouts TBA, Summer Team for rising 8th graders • Softball: Fall Workouts TBA • Soccer: Summer Camp in July dates are TBA, PYSL Camp at Smith River Complex July 29th-August 1, Fall Soccer through Rec.
