  1. Blog 2: Globalrefininggroup.com GO GREEN WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER Automobile engines run on gasoline, petrol and, diesel that is extracted from petroleum, which is composed of hydrocarbons (elements built from carbon & hydrogen atoms). In a layman language, if we burn hydrocarbon, it will produce toxic carbon dioxide and other harmful gases. The toxic gases emitted by car engines include varied types of poisonous gases such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides & many more. All such gases altogether pollute the environment and dissolve highly toxic substances into it. In fact, it may cause "smog" (the sort of cloudy vehicle pollution). Therefore, in order to keep the air clean, automobile manufacturers are using catalytic converter. This emissions control devices can easily transform highly harmful gases, particles, and pollutants to less toxic pollutants by catalyzing a redox reaction. What is a catalytic converter? In practical terms, toxic gases are made of harmful molecules, which are converted into less harmful substance by a catalytic converter. It is box, bolted to the underside of the car, in order to consume polluted fumes from the engine's cylinders and convert them into other gases that are relatively safe. Structural pattern of a catalytic converter Through a special type of chemical reaction, which takes place under the metallic box, pollutants are broken down and converted into harmless gases. Here, it must be noted that dense honeycomb structure made from a ceramic and coated with the catalysts (platinum, palladium, or rhodium) helps to convert the toxic gases through a chemical reaction. Conclusion So if you want to take initiatives to stop global warming and go green, then you must use high quality catalytic converter that can perform well under difficult conditions. Modern catalytic converters are highly sensitive and can effectively accomplish their job to minimize the pollution. Remember, always use the best fuel for your car in order to control the rising rate of pollution.
