  3. 2 Departments 1 Goal To enhance service coordination between CalWORKs and Child Welfare Programs to help families achieve economic stability and ensure child safety and overall well-being.

  4. Fresno County’s Demographics • The County area: 6,000 square miles • 15 incorporated cities • General population 931,098 • Number of youth involved with CPS 2436 • Currently linking approximately 100 families

  5. DCFS REFERRAL ● Jointly, E&TA and DCFS will use a team approach to coordinate services: • By respecting client choices & family goals; • Collaborates with families and multi-systems; • Reduce duplication of services & provide effective and efficient services.

  6. Linkages Benefits For the Families & County: • Quicker access • Improved prevention efforts • Improved communication between families and staff • Shared program costs for Substance Abuse Services

How We Link Services • Two E&TA Job Specialists (JS’s) are co-located at the L Street site & work closely with DCFS Social Workers ● Communication with E & TA Staff by phone & email • Conduct home-calls, attend Team Decision Making (TDM’s) meetings & Treatment Center staffings • Link, coordinate and monitor WTW & Child Welfare Services • Enter Linkages Special Indicator code in CWS/CMS

Outcomes • A more comprehensive case plan for Child Welfare & Welfare to Work (WTW) • Decreased duplication of services • Efficient use of limited funding • Case plans specific to needs of families • More information available to both CalWORKs and Child Welfare workers • Improving client success in both systems
