  2. BEFORE WE SAY I DO • Is a pre-marriage counseling guide designed to aide couples in their preparation for marriage. • Written because far too many couples make elaborate plans and spend too much money preparing for a day … but no time planning for a lifetime together.

  5. WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • Ephesians 6:1-4 is a powerful passage to help us see what the LORD wants us as Fathers to know • “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother —which is the first commandment with a promise — that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

  6. WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • Every child has a question that they want answered • This question can best be answered by the Father • For the son the question is … do I have what it takes to make it? • For the daughter the question is … am I beautiful to you?

  7. WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • What does a Father need to do to answer these questions • Answer the question in the affirmative • Yes you have what it takes • Yes you are beautiful • Answer the question with love • Answer it in a thousand ways even when they grow into adulthood

  8. WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • Know that you as the Father are the most powerful man in their world • The Father sets the identity of the child • Know that your son wants to know that he is powerful and will have an impact on the world • Understand that “fear” is the enemy of the male

  9. WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • Know that your daughter wants to know that she is worth fighting for • She needs to know that she will not be abandoned • A lack of “Security” is the enemy of the female • Your voice as Dad is a resounding voice throughout their lives

WHAT EVERY FATHER NEEDS TO KNOW • Ways to heal the hurt and help the hurting • Know why the Lord came: • The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,        because the LORD has anointed me        to preach good news to the poor.        He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,        to proclaim freedom for the captives        and release from darkness for the prisoners • First, we must realize we must be set free ourselves • Second, we must be willing to grieve • Third, let God love you
