Welcome Travel Grant Awardees AGS and NIA have a special commitment to trainees and junior faculty
The Bedside to Bench series • Knowledge flows in both directions: from bench to bedside and also from bedside to bench • Aging research can be fueled by clinical observations about important but understudied problems • Clinical and basic science investigators can work together
Thinking Moving and Feeling • Disorders of cognition, movement and mood often coexist in older people • These aging problems are usually studied separately by investigators who do not interact
Specific Aims 1. Present evidence for co-occurrence of disorders of cognition, movement and mood in the older adult. 2. Explore potential common causal pathways from multiple basic and clinical perspectives. 3. Propose methods to help discriminate common pathways from random co-occurrence and bi- or tri-directional secondary effects. 4. Discuss implications for clinical practice. 5. Identify knowledge gaps and future directions for multidisciplinary research.
