  1. Volkswagen Scirocco's Potential Return as an Electric Sports Coupe Volkswagen is thinking about bringing back the Scirocco, but this time as an electric vehicle (EV). The company is looking into designs and plans to make the Scirocco an electric sports car with a look inspired by the 1970s. They are also considering a high-end version with two motors and four-wheel drive. What's the Idea Behind the Volkswagen Scirocco EV? The plan is to incorporate the Scirocco into a new project that also discusses a new Audi TT, a car based on the Cupra Dark Rebel concept, and updated versions of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman. According to a source who spoke with Autocar UK, the new Scirocco might be released by 2028 if all goes as planned. Compared to the planned second-generation ID 3 hatchback, which will use the Golf moniker, this redesigned Scirocco would be more sophisticated. It is anticipated to launch in 2027 alongside the ninth-generation Golf. The Tech and Design of the New Scirocco nlike the electric Golf, which will use Volkswagen's new SSP platform, the Scirocco would use a special version of the PPE platform. This platform is being designed for the new Boxster/Cayman and will only be used for electric cars. It's flexible enough to allow for different sizes and designs, including both single-motor, rear-wheel-drive, and dual-motor, four-wheel-drive versions. he design intended to hold the sports car feature with low doors and a low floor. The battery could be placed between the two seats and in the middle of the car since mid-engine cars are designed just like this. This design was however shown off in the Mission R concept car by Porsche in 2021. While the new Boxster and the Dark Rebel concept might only have two seats, the Scirocco and the TT are expected to have more room because of longer wheelbases.

  2. The power for the Scirocco could start at around 300 horsepower for a single-motor version and go up to more than 400 horsepower for the dual-motor version. This would make it a worthy successor to the Scirocco R, which was available from 2009 to 2017. The push to bring back the Scirocco comes from the new VW Group chairman Oliver Blume who wants to build new popular brands that allow for batch production at lower costs. The location where the new Scirocco will be made is still decision but one of the options is Karmann factory in Osnabruck, Germany, where the original Scirocco was built.
