My father was William James Byron (224-611). His nickname was Buddy. He was assigned to the USS Duane CG and was Radioman 1st class as early as 8/11/44 He was Honorably Discharged (B68529 Series B) on November 27, 1945 from the Personnel Separation Center No.3, Brooklyn, NY as Chief Radioman. He was born in 1919 in the Bronx NY, and would have been 89 years old this year. He passed away in 1975 at the age of 56. My mother is still lives in New York (Mamaroneck NY) and is 86 years old. The following are pictures that he kept from his experiences during his time in the Coast Guard fron 1941 to 1945. I wrote what I knew from what he told me and from what was written on the backs of some of the photographs. I welcome any feedback, questions, thoughts or comments on anything you would like to talk about. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
