What is the ADPH Healthcare Sector? Healthcare Sector This committee is one of the guiding forces that will address the tough questions and other healthcare related issues that face Alabama during an emergency response.
What is the ADPH Healthcare Sector? Healthcare Sector • Includes: Hospitals, Nursing Homes, EMS, Home Health, Community Health Centers, EMA, etc. • Representatives from all eleven public health areas • Developed Healthcare Sector Goals and Objectives • Two Subcommittees • Planning takes time
What are the objectives of the HCS?Healthcare Sector Subcommittees Training and Exercise Planning – Objective: Focus on how to educate the sector including healthcare staff and coordinate exercises between agencies.
What are the objectives of the HCS?Healthcare Sector Subcommittees Healthcare Coordination/Operational Planning and Pharmacy Issues –Objectives: • Focus on hospital staffing (i.e. physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapist, nurses, etc.), bed capacity, alternative care sites, etc. while collaborating with various agencies to encourage cooperation and mutual aid agreements. • Focus on the issues regarding prescription medications during disaster conditions. • Develop standards and operational protocols and/or plans that can be implemented during pandemic conditions in cooperation with all aspects of healthcare including the business aspects of healthcare and continuity of operations planning.
What are the objectives of the HCS?Healthcare Sector Subcommittees Faith Based/Community Sector formally Medical Volunteers – Objective: Address issues regarding the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), American Red Cross (ARC), ADPH, and Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT) medical volunteers, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), and other potential agency and facility volunteers.
What are the objectives of the HCS?Healthcare Sector Subcommittees Review Board – Objective: All the physicians in the committee participate on the Review Board. This board will evaluate all policies and procedures developed in the Healthcare Sector Committee prior to submission to Dr. Miller, Assistant State Health Officer and Dr. Williamson, State Health Officer.
