It seems like a lot of change! This change in activity will require some change in your organization. • More collaboration with other organizations. • More working with other organizations on a contractual basis. • Perhaps becoming a Medicaid certified provider in the future. Don’t panic! Take a breath!
What Can We Do? Recommendations from the Committee: • Get prepared! Change is coming! • Take advantage of all opportunities to learn about ACA, Medicaid expansion. • Develop new partners and expand old partnerships! • Assess your organization for training needs - for staff - for residents - for the organization as a whole!
First, recognize what we do! Recognize that: • What we do in our organizations impacts peoples’ lives. • We have a responsibility to help people successfully manage their illness (physical and/or behavioral). • Our goal is to focus on the preventative activities that assist in health management. • Appropriate skill levels exist within our current staff operations (i.e., engagement, case management, relationship development).
Questions and Current Practices to Consider • What kind of staff skill sets will be needed? • What training for staff and for residents will be needed? • What services do we currently provide? • What else could we provide that will help residents to improve their health and well-being?
