  2. Warm Up • Write down the “Daily Agenda” in your planner • Keep your planner open until I check it • In your daily journal section, date your entry and write (in complete sentences) on the following: • Using words, describe how to get to your favorite restaurant from your house

  3. Vocabulary • Cartography • Art of making maps, including design and reproduction of maps

  4. Cartographer • Person who makes maps • Lewis and Clark

  5. Title • Tells what information will be found on the map

  6. Scale • Ratio of the area on the map and the real world

  7. Compass Rose • Shows the directions for example north, south, east and west

  8. Symbols/Color • Way to show different information on the map without writing words

  9. Key/Legend • Explains what the symbols and/or colorsrepresent

  10. Physical Map • A map that shows the landforms of a region • Mountains, rivers, lakes

  11. Political Map • Show governmental boundaries that separate countries, states, or provinces

  12. Thematic Map • Maps that are used to analyze data

  13. Economic Map • Analyze how people and countries earn a living and what resources are available
