  2. Observation • “The act or faculty of taking notice; the act or result of considering or marking attentively.” • Goes beyond mere physical sight; it involves real perception. It is awareness. • The general function is to become saturated with the particulars of a passage.

  14. 4 “r’s” -- read • Read Aloud—in order to “process” every word & “feel” the text • Read Carefully—so that you can enjoy all the text has to offer • Read Repeatedly—in order to meditate • Read with a Pencil—in order to remember & see new things

  15. 4 “r’s” -- reflect • Reflect Purposely—in order to maintain the context • Reflect Visually—in order to not miss the details & see the picture • Reflect Prayerfully—in order to communicate your feelings to God • Reflect Patiently—in order to see the deeper truths

  16. 4 “r’s” -- Record • Record with Organization—to keep a record of what you have learned • Record with Questions—so that you will look for solutions to difficult texts • Record Applications—so that you have a written goal of needed changes

  17. 4 “r’s” -- respond • Respond with Confession—in order to be forgiven & encourage change • Respond with Obedience—in order to keep growing & have a reward for your study • Respond by Putting the Words in Your Heart—in order to teach others
