Variations in color are due to the type of particles that are colliding.

3. How did the lights get it’s name? • Blogspot • B • The northern lights comes from some Latin words. aurora is he name of the roman goddess of dawn, later it became the word for dawn it’s self. The lutes told tales of dead souls playing walrus skull soccer in the sky. According to a Chinese myth, the lights were fighting dragons. Russians believed them to be a sign of child birth, while the Greeks believed them to be a sign of war.
