Mission and Focus of Kosice IT Valley • bring to the region of Eastern Slovakia jobs with a high added value thanks to the close cooperation of IT companies, universities, and self-administration • offer educational possibilities needed for these jobs • contribute to the elaboration and implementation of the development strategy of knowledge economy and information society using the concept of a “learning region” and implementation of digital ecosystems • create in the region of eastern Slovakia a business-friendly environment stimulating all forms of innovation

Activities of Kosice IT Valley • educational, advisory, and consulting activities • information and promotion activities • organization and securing of seminars, trainings, and conferences • elaboration of analyses, studies, and prognoses of the further development of the region and society • publishing and editorial activities • mobilization of sources • international and cross-border cooperation with similar organizations e.g. SARIO, SEIA, IEEE .....

Our Structure • Kosice IT Valley has a structure which fulfill Triple Helix model requirements: • Public sector – municipality of Kosice, Kosice Self-governing Region • Academy – Technical university of Kosice, University of Pavol Jozef Safarik, technical secondary schools • Businesses – SMEs, local divisions of international corporations (Cisco, SIEMENS PSE, T-Systems, Ixonos, RWE IT, ....)

IT investments are welcomed Why – IT should come to the region ? • T-Systems Slovakia– good example that human resources can be provided by the region • Companies e.g., NESS KDC, Siemens PSE, SORS Research are companies with high added valuein IT solutions • Universities in Košice have 2 new CoE In IT & solid base of knowledge and technologies

Academic Environment and IT • Center for Excellence for knowledge based technologies on Technical University of Kosice ( Including VRLab, Robotics Lab, Intelligent Automotive Lab and many others – investment 3 milion Euro ) • Center for Excellence for knowledge based Technologies on University of Pavol Jozef Safarik ( Including e-government solution and many others - investment 1 milion Euro)

  10. We are ready for IT investments • Universities and knowledge based structure • we are expecting some more support from Government as IT clusters for Inovation and related support • ITV is in proposal for INTEREG IV project and EIT project – create infrastructure for inovation environment

What we want to be .... • We want to be area providing people with abilities to give higher added value in IT domain • expenses for IT people are now from 12 000 – 36 000 euro/year • support from government are available by SARIO Agency for new companies • we have a project of TECHNICOM – where TUKE will be supporting innovation and Technology Transfer centers

Credit of Academic Institutions • Faculty of EE and IT has the best rating in Slovakia (aprx. 200 IT people per year finish IT domain, and more than 1200 students in IT branches) • Natural Science Faculty has the best rating and awards – got IT GALA Award – for best IT solution in e-government segment (aprx. 50 IT people per year and 200 students in IT branches) Both have international reputation in IT including USA, Japan and EU good conditions for IT segments for the future
