  3. Conscientiousness • Incredibly careful • Extreme self control and self discipline • Need for achievement • Organized • Always on time and always prepared • They follow a schedule and like order • Pay attention to detail

  4. Agreeableness • Friendly • Helpful • Well liked by others and are less likely to suffer from social rejection • Concerned with other people’s problems • They have a soft heart • They make time for others

  5. Extraversion • Loves human interaction • Talkative • Life of the party • Do not like being alone • Like social and community activities • Look for jobs in sales, teaching, and politics. • Do not like social events. • Would rather be alone or spending time with a small group of friends • They like to spend their time reading and drawing • They look for jobs as artists, play writers, and inventors. Introversion

Neuroticism • Have more negative emotions • More depressed and angry • They are more stressed and they don’t handle it well. • Normal situations can feel threatening • They have a lot of mood swings. • This type of personality trait can be dangerous because it can cause people not to think straight.

  7. Weaknesses • Dimensions are not independent • Doesn’t cover all personality traits • Bias, because they are self-reported. • Not based on any underlying theory

My Thoughts… There is a lot of controversy with regards to the Big Five Personality Traits, however I believe that it is well thought out and an excellent representation of all types of personality. The traits that were said to be left out, such as sexiness, honesty, sense of humor, snobbishness, and religiousness, can all be found in the characteristics of the Big Five. I believe that personality is mixed. That we all have parts of each of the Big Five, depending on what day it is and how we are feeling. I think that we have a dominate personality trait but our personality as a whole is mixed with characteristics from each category of the Big Five.
