Subjects, Nouns, Predicates and Verbs • We are all in eighth grade now and know that a subject is basically a noun. Subjects and nouns refer to the person, place, thing or idea that the sentence is about. Predicates are likened to verbs. They tell you what the subjects/nouns are doing or has done throughout the sentence.
What is a Complete Subject or Subject Complement? • Complete = having all parts or elements; lacking nothing; whole; entire; full • Complement = something that completes or makes perfect • Subject = whom or what the sentence is about
Complete Predicate • Complete = having all parts or elements; lacking nothing; whole; entire; full • Complement = something that completes or makes perfect • Predicate = refers to what the subject (noun) is doing.
Different Kinds of Sentences • Declarative • Imperative • Exclamatory • Interrogative
