Why go abroad? • Develops your academic qualifications and your personal competences. • Gives an insight into other cultures and a different learning environment • Develops your intercultural competences • Ability to seek for new information • Work and adapt into other cultures and contexts • Gives your a new approach for your future profession and will expand your horizon.
Companys future demands • Increased specialization and demands on higher level of education • Better langauge skills • Higher demands on flexibility. • Larger focus on personality and cooperation competences • Global staff
What to be aware of • There will be some paper work which you will have to maintain in order to get a credit transfer after your stay. • You wont be able to get the exact same courses as here at VIA • Teaching, guidance and exams can be held in different ways than at VIA • Linguistic challenges • Not everybody can go to the same school.
Good advice when going abroad • Talk to students who already went abroad. • Keep a close contact with the international coordinator – also when being abroad. • Make sure you have enough funds for the destination chosen. Make a budget.

Guidelines for going abroad • Check out the webpages of the universities of your interest. • Fill in the application form for the semester you intend to take abroad and send it to Anna before the deadline. • After the deadline the free places will be given to the students. Not everybody will be able to go to their first choice. • You will receive the application form for the university and a list of other required documents.
Guidelines for going abroad • Fill in the learning agreement and get it approved by Roger. • Send all documents to Anna and it will be sent to the receiving institution. • You will receive your acceptance letter. • Apply for the Erasmus+ scholarship, if needed. All the paper work and the contact with the university must be done through Anna, until the acceptance of the student!
Erasmus+ Scholarship Requirements: • The stay has to be between 3-12 months • You have to be a full degree student at VIA • The placement can take place at any partner institution or in any country for the practical placement (From august 2015 earliest) • You can receive up to 12 months of scholarship while being at VIA.
