  2. Motivation and Problem Description • Problem: Table Tennis Robots are expensive. • This is a really fun and interactive project! • Get to interface motors with the msp430. • Functionality: • Topspin on the ball. • Ball speed control. • Control ball output rate. • Simple and easy to use Interface. • Random Mode ? How good are you? • Utilized parts of MSP430 that will be used: • Timers • Joystick, Buttons, and LCD • PWM $ 3,000! Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  3. Design part 1 Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  4. Design part 2 Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  5. Technical Approach part 1 PWM to control Motor’s speed and spin. Powerful enough motor to actually project the balls with decent speed. Higher RPM is preferable. Smaller motor to drive balls mechanically into shooting shaft Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  6. Tasks Michael Nic Order components and Parts Interface Motors Create MSP430 PWM Signals Control PWM with Joystick Fixate Motors to Machine and strengthen parts User interface Merge Mechanic and Electrical Testing/Fixing/Tweaking Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  7. Milestones Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  8. Results Driver Configuration Ball Launcher - Top Dual PWM Signal Ball Launcher - Side Technical Approach Description Design Tasks Results Outcome

  9. Conclusion • Lessons Learned: • Microcontrollers are very powerful solutions to building DIY projects. • How to interface external hardware components ( Voltage Controller ) with MSP430s. • How to control motors/ using a generated PWM signal. • Documentation should be a consideration during design. • Making useful projects is fun!
