Mandate for Outreach For the global community to gain the maximum advantages, co-ordinated Earth observations must encompass as many contributions and spread benefits as widely as possible. GEO mandate for inviting new members and participating organisations comes from: Declaration of EO Summit I GEO Terms of Reference User Reqmts and Outreach Subgroup (emphasis on users)
Outreach Opportunities and Actions About 40 relevant international conferences, conventions, workshops and other fora identified for period April 2004 – Jan 2005 5 of the above have focused GEO outreach activities
EO Partnership Conference - Brussels, 16 July 2004 Hosted by European Commission Aims to highlight benefits of EO, partnership opportunities in GEO, European initiative on Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) and international Earth system research opportunities Invitations in May 2004 to: African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) nations, prominent emerging economies, Mediterranean and Eastern Europe (approx. 100 nations) State capitals via ambassadors to EU GEO Co-Chairs, Subgroup Co-Chairs, Task Team and Secretariat Programme being finalised (volunteer speakers welcome)
