Location Crowded airport, Taxi rank. This is typical of the genre as they are just ordinary places in which are common to most people knowledge. Tom Cruises character has just arrived on a business trip. Jaime Fox’s character is a taxi driver and shows his place in society. Lighting/colour • Aside from the Yellow taxi there is not much stand out colours, natural daytime light is used in the airport. The use of the natural day light tells you that its the day time obviously but also that the two characters feel comfortable making a shady transaction in public – showing their characteristics. The taxi colour gives us hints as to where the film is set – yellow taxis indicate an american city Mise En Scene Costume/Props Brief case, Flight ticket, Taxi, Picture of an island, Crossword, Glasses. The briefcase adds to the action as you don’t know what’s inside and because of his dress it could be anything. The crossword shows that Jamie Fox’s character maybe intelligent/nerdy, the picture shows us that he he dreams of being somewhere else or having a different life altogether. Tom Cruise wears a grey suit, dark glasses, Jamie Fox is wearing a casual, hoody and blue jeans. Tom Cruises character is important business man, the sharp well-made suit shows he is good at what he does takes pride in his job. The grey is an emotionless colour and the dark glasses are a hint at his hidden identity. Jamie Fox’s character is not as important as he’s wearing casual clothes and perhaps doesn’t take much pride in his job.
Camera Movements A tilting shot of him doing a crossword up to his face focusing down at the page. Pan which sets the scene of where the character is. Camera Shots, angles and movements Camera Angles Low angle – When he gets into the taxi and the bag is placed right in front of the camera. High angle – When he is sitting in taxi ready to go, maybe to hint someone is observing him or will later be approached by Tom Cruise's character Camera Shots Long shot, Medium shot, medium close up, close up. The long shots are used to establish the scenes in the airport and at the end of the taxi rank scene. The close ups are used to show detail and important objects vital to the narrative for eg the Breifcase.
