FED DEV ARC PROGRAM • Undertake industry-driven research • Up to $50,000 for a 9 month project • Eligible industry partners are required to put a 1:1 match of cash or/and in-kind contribution
SME ELIGIBILITY • Based in Southern Ontario • A Small to Medium Sized Enterprise i.e Less then 1000 Employees • Have received no previous funding from the Fed Dev Applied Research and Commercialization Funding from any academic institution
WHAT ARC WILL SUPPORT • Applied research - process and product • Certification • Engineering design • Proof of concept • Technology development • Piloting / demonstration • Product testing • Problem solving
ARC TARGET AREAS • Finance • Arts and Culture • Entertainment & recreation • Digital Media • Urban Energy & Environment • Health Care
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA • Industry-initiated needs will be matched with Ryerson faculty with a strong research record. Funded projects must demonstrate strong industry involvement, as well as commercialization and potential benefit to the Canadian economy;
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA • In order to qualify for funding, industry proposals must describe in detail the resources to be provided and the significance or benefits each project will provide (eg cash, personnel assigned to the team, equipment, project leadership or mentorship, impact to the Canadian job market, commercialization potential, etc.);
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA • Key focus for industry is increased employment, and/or product or service commercialization and/or increased sales as a result of the project; • Key focus for Ryerson is supporting and growing relationships with small- and medium-sized companies, within our key growth sectors;
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA • Faculty applicants must have a proven research record and successful record of industry interaction or a strong interest in commercialization of research, but also must have access to graduate and undergraduate students who will be capable of working on the implementation of the ARC project
KEY DATES • Submission Deadline: May 18th, 2012 • Expected Project Start: July 1st, 2012 • End date: No later then March 31st, 2013 (No extensions allowed)
