Long Term GoalIP Knowledge Diffusion for Economic Competitiveness • To disseminate basic knowledge on IP to university students in • Science & technology • Management & Economics • To improve knowledge on specific topics for professionals (including practicing lawyers and judges dealing with IP issues)

  3. Tools • MODULE. Promotion of 1 or 2 university credits on IP as a fundamental knowledge for students attending Science, Technology, Economics, Management Schools • COURSE. Promotion of at least 1 course on IP for students attending Science, Technology, Economics, Management Schools

Roadmap: The First Actors Involved • Universities involved: • Politecnico di Milano • Politecnico di Torino • Università di Bologna • Università di Salerno • Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa) • Bocconi University (Milano) • LUISS University (Roma) • Partner Institutions: • Italian Patents & Trademarks Office (UIBM) • Italian University TTO Association (NETVAL) • European Patent Academy

  5. Progress (I) • Promotion of IP courses • On December 15th, 2010, the Italian Conference of Italian Rectors (CRUI) approved a document including the suggestions of the Italian Road Map. A basic course of 2 credits will be promoted by the Rectors internally • Some time required to get things done • Delay due to university reform passed in December 2010 (law N. 244/2010)

The way ahead for the RM implementation • Follow the implementation of the 2-credit proposal • Favor the adoption of the EPO teaching kit to ensure uniformity • Control diffusion of IP courses at master level • Support networking initiatives and common output • AND Effective RM results already as of 2012

Where do we stand on the RM implementation? • Follow the implementation of the 2-credit proposal >will be implemented as of September 2012 • Favor the adoption of the EPO teaching kit to ensure uniformity >workshop on teaching Kit implementation in March 2012 • Control diffusion of IP courses at master level >follow up on the workshop on Teaching Kit implementation in March 2012 • Support networking initiatives and common output >awareness publications and common activities
