  4. 1 Tim. 4:2-3 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebukeand encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

  5. Acts 20:29-31 • I know that after I leave, savage wolveswill come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warningeach of you night and day with tears.

  6. 1 Cor. 14:3 • But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.

  7. Revelation 2:20-22 • Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel [not necessarily a woman], who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleadsmy servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repentof her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

  8. Matthew 7:15-20 • "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

  9. Matthew 7:21-23 • "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father [obedience/ fruit of Spirit] who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesyin your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!‘”

  10. 1 Timothy 3:16-17 • All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  11. Ezekiel 14:4 • Therefore speak to them and tell them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When any Israelite sets up idols in his heart and puts awicked stumbling block before his face and then goes to a prophet, I the LORD will answer him myself in keeping with his great idolatry.

  12. 1 Cor. 14:24-25 • But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understandcomes in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!"

  13. 1 Cor. 14:29   Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. • 1 John 4:1   Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. • 1 Thess. 5:19-21   Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Testeverything. Holdon to the good.

  14. Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. • Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

  15. Acts 21:12-14 • After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.'" When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, "The Lord's will be done."
